- NOTES:
Written November 1985. The
Fifth Dimension, on their "Stoned Soul Picnic"
album, recorded a song called The Sailboat Song which I
have always loved and which inspired this song.
It is about getting away from it all, and is meant to
call to mind the peaceful, carefree ease of life that being
out on the sea can bring.
My image for the song was of being alone out on a
sailboat somewhere in the warm, turquoise blue waters of the
South Pacific - of being compelled to be there - of being a
man so truly in love with
the sea that nothing else mattered except being there. This
song took about a year to complete, with revisions done in
1992 and 1994.
-
- She
wakes me in the morning
- Very
softly with her sighs
- Her
face is all alight with stars
- As the
sun begins to rise
- Companion,
friend and lover
- She is
everything to me
- And I
could not love another more than her
- My
love; The Sea....
-
- It’s
been many years that I've been with her
- I've
lost all track of time
- My
friends back home don't understand me
- They
say I've lost my mind
- They
don't know what I'm doin' here
- Out on
these changing tides
- I do
it for love - she's in my blood
- Oh now
– she is my life.....
-
- Well,
no man is an island
- But
sometimes he must be
- To
find his place in life - to be alive
- To
open up and breathe......
-
- I
breathe in her the taste of freedom
- Like
wine I drink her in
- Her
laughter washes over me
- And I
love her like the wind
- One
day I'll become the wind
- To go
with her all my life
- Forever
be....eternally
- Beside
my ocean bride.....
