Buying a Business Name from BrandBucket
What do I get when I purchase a name?
When buying a business name from BrandBucket you will become the new owner of the domain name, and it will remain yours as long as you renew your yearly registration with your domain name registrar. There are no recurring costs from BrandBucket. We also do not lease domains.
You will also receive the example logo that is shown along side the domain name. We can send you the original graphics file, usually in Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop format, so that you can modify, edit and resize it if needed.
How does it work?
BrandBucket is a marketplace of domain names that are owned by several different people. To facilitate the transfer of domain ownership, we provide an escrow service between the domain owner (the seller) and you, the buyer. We hold your payment as a third party, and guarantee the transfer of the domain into your account at the registrar of your choice before we release the payment to the seller.
We take care of the whole process and hand hold you through it. We also guarantee the transfer of the domain to you, or your money back.
What payment options do you accept?
Our secure online checkout accepts all major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. We also accept a bank wire transfer.
How long does the domain transfer take?
Once payment has been received and cleared (immediately for credit card, longer for wire transfers and eCheck), we start the domain transfer process. The transfer can take anywhere between 1-8 business days, depending on the registrar where the domain is currently registered, and the registrar that you prefer to use. Typically if you choose to use the same registrar where the domain currently resides, the transfer is the quickest since the domain only changes accounts. If you choose a different registrar, there is an ICANN-mandated waiting period of 5 days that starts after the current owner has approved the transfer.
Since BrandBucket is an open marketplace and the domains are owned by several different people, the transfer time can be affected depending on the response time of the seller. We do our best to speed the transfer process by training our escrow team to facilitate communication between you and the seller and to eliminate common roadblocks.
Is the logo included with my purchase?
Yes. The logo designs featured with our domain names are designed to help you visualize what the brand could look like. If you would like to have and use the sample logo, its yours to use. We can send you the original graphics file, usually in Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop format, so that you can modify and resize it if needed. If you choose to not use the sample logo, there is no reduction in the total price of the domain.
Can I make an offer?
We believe in reducing hassle through upfront pricing. Unlike other domain marketplaces that rarely show a listing price, which requires you to start a lengthy negotiation process with the seller, BrandBucket requires each and every name to have a set price. A suitable price range is recommended by our staff based on the name’s quality (see our blog series on the characteristics we look for in a name) and our years of experience selling brandable domain names.
However, every few months we do re-evaluate the pricing of our older domains. Please be sure to check back regularly for any updates. If you would like some help finding a name within a particular budget, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team for assistance at info @ brandbucket.com.
I'm interested a name, what do I do?
If you're interested in purchasing a name, please use the inquire button found under each name to reach out to our sales team. The more info you include the faster our team can respond with specific details.
What is a domain registrar?
A domain name registrar is an organization or company that is accredited by ICANN to sell and register domain names. They store the domain owner's contact information, which can be seen by doing a WHOIS search. All domain names for sale on BrandBucket are already registered at one of several registrars. When you purchase a domain at BrandBucket, you must already have an account at a registrar, or create one before we can transfer the domain to you.
A short list of registrars that we can recommend are:
https://www.godaddy.com
http://www.register.com/
http://www.moniker.com/
http://www.enom.com/
Can I trade you a domain I own for one on your website?
Though we appreciate your interest, we do not accept barter deals or trade offers. BrandBucket is an open marketplace, so the domains listed are not all necessarily owned by us. However, if you own a domain that you feel might be a good fit for our market, you are always welcome to submit it to our team for review. To start the process, simply sign up for a domain owner account.
Do your domains come with existing trademarks or international registration?
No. In order to apply for a trademark or registration, we would need to know specifics about the business like: location, type/industry, and what services the company/product will provide. Since our versatile domains can be purchased by anyone for any use, it would not be possible for us to file a trademark in advance.
We recommend that you do some research and/or seek legal advice to ensure that the name you are interested in does not have an existing trademark by a competitor in your industry and within your region. If the name is not trademarked, or has a trademark unrelated to how you plan to use it, then you have a good chance of being able to trademark the name yourself. If there is an existing trademark, keep in mind that, as long as your business is in a different industry, you may still be able to file a trademark for the name.

About BrandBucket and Brandable Business Names
Who is your service for?
Our service is for anyone who needs a new business domain name! Our clients are mostly startups and entrepreneurs. However, we also serve people looking to name a blog or product as well as change the name of an existing company and rebrand to a new fresh image.
BrandBucket was born out of our own frustration of thinking of a name for a company, only to find that the matching domain name is:
- Already in use
- Doesn't seem to be in use, but you can't tell if it is for sale, or
- Listed for sale by an inexperienced seller, at an unrealistic price.
By providing a list of domain names that are available for sale, at prices that are based on years of sales experience and kept in a business-friendly range, we hope to eliminate that frustration for you!
What is a "brandable" domain name?
Sometimes called "vessel" names, the majority of the domains on BrandBucket are non-keyword names that have no specific meaning. While our names may not have a direct relation to your business or product, they can convey qualities that are important to your company (like strength), or an overall feeling (like youth and fun).
Names that are free from keywords become strong brands over time, and allow you to expand your business without being restricted (and having to change your name in the future). If Google had launched as "SearchEngine.com", their brand wouldn't have become a verb, and they wouldn't have been able to develop the many different products they are now famous for.
Remember, a brand starts with a good name, but the brand itself is a result of communicating your personal voice and priorities to your customers through your business as a whole.
Who is BrandBucket and what’s your story?
We launched in the summer of 2007 and have been helping entrepreneurs like you find the perfect name since. Your can read more about our story and our CEO Margot Bushnaq to get a glimpse of what we’re all about.
Finding a Business Name on BrandBucket
How does the search work?
We suggest starting your search with one keyword that is relevant to your business ("music"), or a word that describes the type of name your are looking for (“strong"). Because the majority of the domains on BrandBucket are unique -- and not keyword combinations -- your search results will display names that contain your search term in the description, keywords and possible usage texts, and not necessarily names that contain your search term in the domain itself.
Once you have tried a single search keyword you can add more to narrow down the search to more specific names.
How do I sort my search results?
You can use our "refine" tool found on the right hand side, to narrow your list of domains by our pre-set categories or by using the search bar to specify specific keywords, you can also sort your search results in one of the following ways:
- Date Added
- Staff Picks
- Alphabetically
- Price
How do I filter my search results by price?
After narrowing your domain search by selecting a category or doing a search, you can filter your results by price range. Under the "Refine" area you can slide the "price range" arrows from "ALL" to a specific range. As you slide you will see your range appear in grey text next to the line.
How do I browse by topic/industry?
You can browse our selection of domains by vertical (fashion, music), by type (5-letter, international) or by language (Latin, Spanish). Click on "Refine" to view the search categories menu and select from our pre-set options. Remember you can also include a keyword in your search to narrow down further.
How do I see Invented or Keyword names?
Begin by searching for a term to narrow down the results, and once you see these results you will be able to view "Invented" or "Keyword" filtering option to narrow down further. You can also view all invented names or all keyword names.
How do I save my favorites?
When browsing our list of domain names, you can mark your favorites by clicking on the heart icon above the logo or by clicking the save button. Your favorites will then move to the top right corner within a heart icon, and you can see them all in the Favorites Window by clicking the heart at the very top-right of the screen.
Your favorites are stored in a browser cookie, so if you return to our website within 90 days using the same browser/computer (and you do not have cookies disabled or flushed) you can retrieve them.
You can email the full list of favorites to yourself or another person by opening the Favorites Window and entering your email address in the Email Favorites field at the bottom.
How do I email my favorites to myself or others?

You can email the full list of favorites to yourself or another person by opening the Favorites Window and entering your email address in the Email Favorites field at the bottom.
Do you have an RSS feed?
